Parties who deal with the LTO must undergo a Verification of Identity (VOI) check in order to minimise fraud.
A VOI check will usually be conducted with a conveyancer. This applies to ALL dealings with the LTO.
That means whether buying or selling, you will need to visit your conveyancer in person to have your identity verified.
You will be required to bring a combination of the following ORIGINAL documents:
- Driver’s Licence
- Birth Certificate
- Medicare Card
- Centrelink Card
Your conveyancer will advise you which form of identity you will need for the VOI appointment as it depends on your current circumstances.
Alternatively and for your convenience, you can visit an Australia Post office near you to conduct the Verification of Identity yourself.
